St George's day felt like stepping into a real-life magical fairytale.

We celebrated St George’s Day at Priory Gardens in Dunstable and honestly, I’m still carrying the magic within me. From start to finish, it was one of those days that swamps you with joy, wonder, and a deep appreciation for simple adventures where reality becomes a dream as if out of a storybook.

Knights, Dragons & Medieval Dreams

As soon as we arrived, the excitement was contagious. We were greeted by the legendary reincarnated St George himself, in full costume and full spirit. All around us, knights in flashing armour clashed swords in thrilling reenactments of battles past, and children gathered for knight training, learning the chivalric traditions of honour, bravery, and (plastic) swordsmanship.

There was even a dragon hunt that swept through the gardens, turning the whole town into a fantasy playground.

Hands-On Fun for Everyone

There was so much to do that it was impossible not to feel like a kid again. I found myself surrounded by smiling faces crafting crowns and swords, little adventurers scaling climbing walls, and families gathered for magic shows and live music in the spring sunshine.

One of my absolute favourite moments? Holding a beautiful owl — majestic and calm in my hands. But the real surprise? A tiny little rat, curious and sweet, who completely stole my heart. I wasn’t expecting it, but somehow that furry friend made the day even more memorable.

Sunshine, Smiles, and Springtime Vibes

The weather couldn’t have been better. It was one of those crisp spring days where the sun gently warms your skin, and the air carries a hint of blossom and freshly mown grass. Kids ran around with painted faces, parents soaked in the atmosphere, and the whole park was buzzing with life.

Between the falconry displays, with animal encounters and simply watching the joy unfold around us, I felt so present — like I was exactly where I was meant to be.

A Day to Remember

For a few hours, reality faded, and magic was my world. Days like this are rare — full of community spirit, simple pleasures and the joy of losing yourself in play and imagination.

I left with a full heart, a camera roll of memories and a longing to discover more days like this.

Already dreaming of the next adventure…

With love,

Sonia
